While a treatment plan (item codes, descriptors and costs) is essential for informed financial consent, on its own it may not help patients understand the benefits of treatment and can shift focus to numbers rather than outcomes. If a patient is ready to start treatment, a treatment plan is essential, if they are considering what's best for them, discuss and send some information.
